The government announced this week that onsite delivery for schools and colleges can begin from the 8th March.

Our learners and staffs safety is of paramount importance. We are currently reviewing the operational guidance for further education providers and will be updating you shortly with the dates and times our learners can start to return to onsite learning.

In the meantime we will continue with our remote delivery model which has been well received, our learners are engaged and progressing well during this very difficult time.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries.

Stay safe

Best wishes

Joanne Cronin

Heathercroft Training Academy Remote education information

The Heathercroft Academy located in Whitley Road in Eastbourne remains open with a skeleton staff to provide vulnerable students with the opportunity to attend face to face lessons with their tutors. We are currently awaiting a supply of test kits to enable these learners to visit the centre safely. As soon as these have been received our tutors will contact those individuals directly. In the meantime tutors will remain in contact via ZOOM or mobile phones. All other students will be contacted on a regular basis by their respective tutors who are all currently working from home.

Online Contact Arrangements

The majority of Heathercroft students will be attending their training session via our online delivery service through ZOOM, Teams or other platforms. Students’ tutors are accessible via their mobile numbers or via email.

Frequency of contact

Apprentices – all apprentices will be offered online learning and will be contacted by their assessor at least once a month.

Traineeship Learners – all trainees will attend online learning sessions with their Employability tutor and Functional Skills tutor once a week

If there are any general enquiries, suggestions or ideas about how we can improve or develop our online service then please do get in touch via the email below.

Expectations of students participating in online tutorial meetings

These protocols focus on interacting with virtual/remote tutorials. They apply to any of the platforms that may be used MS Teams / Zoom etc.

Live tutorials are an essential way of enabling students to gain knowledge and understanding and are a key part of our teaching and learning strategy. They provide students with the opportunity to ask questions about their work and talk to their tutor on a regular basis.

Please could everyone follow our online tutorial guidelines and ensure you are punctual for your pre-arranged meetings.

· Enable your camera e.g. keep the camera on. This will enable you to interact with your tutor.

· Wear comfortable clothing that is suitable and appropriate for remote learning; for example do not to wear nightwear

· Set your microphones to unmute.

· Speak in a respectful way, please do not use bad language.

· Do not take any pictures/screenshots or record the lessons; or distribute/share anything with others or on social media

Use of IT facilities

If you are unable to access IT either at home or work please do inform us and we can see whether we can source equipment for you on a loaned basis. If you are in this situation, please email jo.cronin@hts.ac.uk. Please note: we have a very limited stock of IT equipment and cannot guarantee that we can support every request we will prioritise vulnerable students and do our best to find a solution for you all.
